The Chocolate Boutique

Our little shop is tucked away in DDA Market No. 4, right across from the Kali Mandir in Chittranjan Park. It’s a nice spot because the temple brings a lot of people by, especially in the evenings. We’re mostly back there in the small kitchen area, melting chocolate and trying to get things wrapped up. It smells like cocoa all day, which you’d think you’d get used to, but you really don't. We do things by hand, so there’s always a bit of a mess with chocolate powder or bits of foil on the counters. It’s not a huge operation. It’s just a few of us making sure the trays are full. The market outside is always a bit chaotic with cars and people walking through, but inside it’s a bit quieter. We spend a lot of time arguing over which flavors are working or how to pack the boxes so they don't look lopsided. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk, and other days we can barely keep up with the people coming in after their temple visit. We’ve been at this address for a while now and the locals know us. We don't have fancy displays like the big malls. It’s just the chocolates and us behind the counter. It feels like a proper neighborhood business, and that’s fine with us. We just keep doing our thing and hope people like the sweets.
