Chawla Sweets Corner

We are located in Lodhi Colony at B K Dutt Market, shop number 11. It’s a classic kind of market where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We’ve been frying up snacks and making sweets here for a long time now. The morning starts early with the sound of the shutters going up and the smell of hot oil starting to warm up. We don't have a menu that's printed on fancy paper; it’s mostly just what we have in the cases that day. Sometimes we run out of the popular stuff by noon and people get a bit annoyed, but that’s just how it goes when you make everything in small batches. The tiles on the floor are a bit chipped and the fan makes a clicking noise, but it stays cool enough. We have a few regular guys who come in every single morning for their tea and a bit of gossip. It feels more like a community spot than a retail business. We do our own cleaning and we handle the cash ourselves. There’s no big manager or corporate office. It’s just us and the stove and the customers who have been coming here since they were kids. We don't try to be the trendiest place in Delhi. We just want to serve decent food and keep the lights on. It’s a simple life in B K Dutt Market and we wouldn't change it for anything else. We just keep the recipes the same and hope for the best.
