About Sardar Silk House – Fashion & Trends in New Delhi
Being at 469 Chandni Chowk means you are right in the middle of everything. The noise outside never really stops. We have been dealing with silks in this building for more years than I care to count. It is a narrow space, filled from floor to ceiling with fabric. Silk is tricky stuff; it is beautiful but you have to handle it right or it snags. We spend our days unfolding and folding things back up for people who come in. Some people know exactly what they want, and others just want to look at every single color we have. It gets crowded in here, especially during the wedding season. We do not have much space to move around, but we manage. You have to get used to the tea sellers shouting outside and the rickshaws. We do not have any fancy marketing. We just open the doors and people come in because they know we have been here forever. The shelves are old wood, and they creak under the weight of the sarees. Sometimes we are so busy we do not even get a chance to eat lunch until late afternoon. It is a bit chaotic, honestly. But that is just how Chandni Chowk is. We keep the fans on high to deal with the heat. It is just a regular family-run place where we know our silk. Nothing more, nothing less. Just a shop in an old part of the city.
