Roopam Sarees

Our shop, Roopam Sarees, is tucked away in 579 Katra Ashrafi. If you know Chandni Chowk, you know how crowded and hectic it gets. It’s a lot of narrow lanes and people rushing around with carts. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. The building is old, and it has that specific smell of fabric and dust that you only find in this part of Delhi. It gets really hot in the summer months, but we just keep the fans going and get on with it. Dealing with the stock takes up most of our time. Boxes arrive, we unpack them, and we try to find space on the shelves, which is always a struggle. Katra Ashrafi is a tight space, so you have to watch your step when you’re walking through. Some days it feels like there isn't enough room for all the stuff we have, but we manage. We aren't some big corporate showroom with air conditioning and fancy lights. It’s just a traditional shop where we know the neighbors and the tea seller who comes by every afternoon. We spend a lot of time just talking to folks who wander in. Sometimes it’s quiet, sometimes it’s a madhouse. That’s just life in Chandni Chowk for us. We’ve stayed here because it’s where we belong, even with the noise and the crowds. We just keep doing what we do every day.
