Central Arecount Coco Mktg & Prssng Cooperative Ltd is over at Naya Bazar. We are tucked away in Gali Raghunandan at number 2652. Naya Bazar is the heart of the wholesale trade, so it is always full of trucks and laborers carrying heavy sacks. Our place is a cooperative, which means things run a bit differently. There is a lot of paperwork and we deal with many different people coming in to talk about areca nuts and coconuts. The office is old, with high ceilings and fans that have been spinning for decades. You can see the history in the wooden desks and the stacks of ledgers. Gali Raghunandan is a tight street, and the air is thick with the smell of spices and dried goods from the other shops. We spend our days processing orders and talking to the people who bring the goods in. It is not a fast-paced environment, but it is constant. We don't have any flashy advertisements out front. People know where we are and what we do. Sometimes we sit and drink tea while we discuss the prices or the next shipment. It is a community thing here. Everyone knows everyone else in the Gali. We just keep the cooperative running and make sure the marketing and processing get done like they should. The building itself has seen better days, I suppose. The paint is peeling in the corners and the light is dim. Sometimes the monkeys from the nearby trees come down to the rooftops.
