About Brij Amrit Dairy Farms – Agriculture & Farming in New Delhi
It is usually dark when things get moving at Brij Amrit Dairy Farms over here at Sanjay Gandhi TPT Nagar CW 566. The cows don't care about the time or if it’s a holiday, so someone is always awake. You can hear the buckets clattering against the floor while the rest of the city is still quiet. Our space isn't fancy at all. It's just a place where the animals stay and the milk gets sorted into the big metal cans for the day ahead. Sometimes the smells are strong, especially when it rains, but that is just how a farm works in the middle of a transport hub. We spend a lot of time cleaning the floors and making sure the feed is ready. People from around the area stop by because they know where the shed is. The gate stays open most of the day. There’s a lot of dust from the trucks passing by the main road nearby, but inside the shed, it’s mostly just the sound of the animals chewing. My hands are usually stained from something or other, either hay or just grease from the gate hinges. It’s a repetitive life, honestly. We do the same thing every morning and every evening. It doesn't change much regardless of the season. We just keep the routine going because the animals depend on it. That’s really all there is to see at our spot.
