Bangali Sweet

If you go to South Market in Kidwai Nagar, look for number 29. That’s where we are. We’ve been making sweets here every morning for a long time. The day starts early, usually before the sun is even up, because the milk has to be boiled and the sugar needs to be ready. It gets hot in the back kitchen, especially in the summer months. We don’t have a big fancy storefront, just the counters where we put the trays out. People come by for their morning tea or to grab something for their kids after school. We see the same neighbors every single day. Some of them have been coming since they were small. It’s a bit crowded in the market, especially on holidays when everyone wants the same thing at once. We just keep our heads down and keep working. The floor stays a bit sticky no matter how many times we mop it, but that’s just how a sweet shop is. We don’t do any big advertisements. People just know we are here at shop 29. Sometimes we run out of the popular stuff by the afternoon and have to tell people to come back tomorrow. It's a simple life, just making food and talking to the regulars. Kidwai Nagar has changed a lot, but this corner stays pretty much the same. We like being part of the daily routine for the folks living nearby.
