Bajaj Paints & Sanitary Store is right there at Shop No D 1539 on Kotla Mubarakpur Gurudwara Road. The road stays busy, especially with the gurudwara being so close, so there is always noise and movement outside the shop. Inside, it is a different story, mostly just the smell of new paint and the sound of pipes clanking together when we move them around. We have a lot of things crammed into D 1539, from small washers to big containers of enamel. It is a practical space, not meant for looking pretty, just for holding the stock that people need for their construction or repair work. Sometimes the sunlight comes in through the front and hits the paint samples, making the whole place look a bit brighter for a few hours.
