About Ashok Beej Bhandar – Agriculture & Farming in New Delhi
Ashok Beej Bhandar is situated out in Holambi Kalan at Noble House, specifically Khera Kalan 33. This area is a bit quieter than the main city, and it feels more connected to the land. We spend our days surrounded by bags of seeds and various agricultural supplies. The shop has a very practical feel to it, with wooden counters and shelves that have seen a lot of use over the years. Depending on the season, the type of seeds we have at the front changes. When the sowing season starts, it gets really busy with people coming in from the nearby fields to get what they need for their crops. There’s usually some dirt on the floor because that’s just how it is when you’re dealing with farming stuff. We don't have a computer system that tracks everything perfectly; we still rely a lot on our notebooks and memory. The building, Noble House, is easy to spot once you get into the Khera Kalan area. Sometimes we sit outside on a bench when it's quiet and watch the tractors go by. It’s a slow-paced life compared to central Delhi, but there’s always something to do. We take care of the stock and talk to the farmers about how the weather is looking. It’s a basic business, but it’s what we know. We’ve been at number 33 for a long time, and we don't plan on going anywhere else.
