If you come to Shahdara, you know how the streets can be. Asg India is on Street No. 1, right on Chandralok Madoli Road. It’s a busy spot at E-62. We spend our days surrounded by the hum of the city. The shop is packed with materials from floor to ceiling. We have to move things around just to make a path to the back desk. It’s a bit dusty because of all the construction nearby, but we don't mind it much. We handle a lot of different orders, mostly small stuff that people need in a hurry. My hands are usually a bit dirty by lunch time, but that’s a sign of a good day's work. We have an old fan that wobbles a bit, but it keeps the air moving when it gets humid. The neighborhood is full of shops just like ours, so there is always someone to borrow a tool from if something breaks. We don’t have a big sign outside, just the house number and our name painted on the door. It’s enough for the people who need to find us. We take a break around four for some biscuits and tea. We talk about the local news or how the road is getting more crowded every year. We just focus on getting the orders right and making sure nothing gets lost in the stacks. It is hard work, but we are used to it.
