A.K. Engineering Industries is tucked away in the Jhilmil Industrial Estate at A-8/4. It’s a typical industrial spot. You’ve got the narrow lanes and the smell of grease and burnt metal in the air. We spend most of our time staring at blueprints or standing over the lathe machines. It’s not the kind of job where you wear a suit. Most of us go home with grease under our fingernails every single night. We’ve been in this building for a long time, and the walls could probably tell some stories about all the different projects we’ve taken on. Some jobs are easy and some make you want to pull your hair out, but we get through them. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone to write fancy letters. We just talk to the people who need engineering work done and we try to figure out a way to do it that makes sense. The office is small and usually has a few tea cups sitting around. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish a big order, especially when the deadlines get tight. It’s just how this industry works. We don’t mind the long hours as long as the machines are running smooth. It’s a quiet kind of pride when you see a finished part and know it’s exactly what it needs to be. We just keep our heads down and do our jobs. There’s no point in making things more complicated than they need to be.
