Academy

The place we call Academy is located at J 58 in Lajpat Nagar Phase-III. It’s a straightforward name for a straightforward place. We aren't a massive school or a big brand name you see on billboards. It’s just a few rooms where we teach and learn. Lajpat Nagar is always crowded, so once you step inside J 58, it’s a bit of a relief to have some quiet. We don’t have much in the way of decoration. There are whiteboards, some old chairs, and piles of books that we’ve collected over the years. We started this because we wanted a local spot where people could come and learn things without all the fuss of a big institution. Sometimes the air conditioner makes a weird rattling noise, and the front door sticks a bit when it rains, but we don’t mind. It’s a lived-in space. We spend our days going through lessons and talking to students. There’s no corporate hierarchy here. If something needs doing, one of us just does it. We’ve been in Phase-III for quite a while now, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. We like that people can just walk in and talk to us. It’s not about being the best; it’s just about being here and doing the work. It’s a simple life, and it keeps us busy from morning till night.
