S B V Bricks

Making bricks is what we do down here in Allipuram. We’re located right by the Anjaneyar Temple, so it’s easy for people to find us when they need materials for a project. It is usually pretty hot around the kilns, and there is red dust everywhere, but that is just part of the job. We spend most of our time stacking bricks and making sure they are fired right so they don't crumble or break. People from around the neighborhood come by when they are putting up a new wall or fixing their house. We don’t have a big office or anything, just the yard and the equipment. Sometimes the rain slows us down because the clay needs to stay dry, which can be a real headache for our schedule. We have been here for a good few years now. The staff is mostly local guys who know the trade well. We just keep our heads down and work. You won't find any shiny brochures here, just piles of bricks ready for whoever needs them. It’s a lot of lifting and moving, but it keeps us busy through the week. We like being part of the community and seeing the houses go up using what we made by hand. If you stop by, you'll probably find us covered in dirt or busy loading a tractor. It’s a simple life, but it works for us and keeps the bills paid.
