Narayana Medical College Hospital,Nellore

I spend most of my time around the Narayana Medical College area, which is a bit of a distance out from the main city. I live in Menakuru village, which is part of the Nayudupeta Mandal. My daily life involves a lot of commuting back and forth. The road to the hospital can be quite dusty, especially during the dry season, and there are always tractors and buses moving through the fields. Being connected to a big medical college like this means there is always something going on, even if the surrounding area is mostly rural. I help out with various things, sometimes related to the office work or helping families who come from far-away villages to get treatment. People here in this part of Nellore district are mostly farmers, so they have a very practical way of looking at things. The hospital is a huge place compared to the small houses in Menakuru. It is a bit of a contrast, seeing all the modern medical equipment right next to the open fields. I usually start my day very early to beat the heat, as it gets incredibly hot here by noon. It is a lot of walking and a lot of talking to people who are often quite scared about their health. I have lived in this district all my life, and I have seen how much things have changed since the college was built. It is a busy life, but it is home.
