The Early Years

The Early Years is up on the first floor of Plot No 184 in Sector 12. Vashi is a pretty busy place, so being in this part of Navi Mumbai means there is always something going on outside. We are not a very large school, just a few rooms where we have the kids for the day. Since we are on the first floor, we have to make sure the stairs are safe and that everyone is careful when they come up. The space is filled with toys and small tables and various things the children use. It is a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes when all the parents arrive at once to pick up their little ones, but we manage it okay. We do not have a big yard, so we use the indoor space as much as we can for activities. The light comes in through the windows quite nicely in the mornings. Most of the people working here are from around Vashi or nearby sectors, so we are all very familiar with the neighborhood. We just spend our hours looking after the kids and helping them learn their first words and numbers. It is honest work and it gets quite loud during the playtime sessions. We keep the place clean and try to make sure everything is where it should be before we close up for the evening.
