Shilpa Medicine

Shilpa Medicine is located right in Kalamboli. If you live around this part of Navi Mumbai, you probably know how it feels—lots of trucks and a lot of development happening all the time. Our shop is a straightforward place where we keep a wide range of medicines. The floor is made of simple grey tiles, and we have white metal racks that we’ve filled up over the years. We spend a lot of time organizing the drawers by category so we can find things quickly when someone is waiting. Kalamboli can get quite busy in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work, so that's usually our most hectic time. We have a small desk near the back where we do the accounts and drink our tea in the afternoon. It’s not a large shop, but we make use of every inch of space we have. Sometimes the ceiling light flickers a bit, but we just ignore it and keep working. We don't do anything fancy with the display; we just put the boxes where they fit. The air outside is often heavy with the smell of the nearby industrial areas, so we keep the door halfway closed sometimes. It’s just a regular daily routine for us, checking the stock levels and making sure we haven't missed anything on the order sheets. We've been here long enough that the neighbors know our faces and we know theirs.
