Vishwas Tea Company

Our place, Vishwas Tea Company, is over at Plot No. 9 in the Esteem Towers. It’s on Dr Ambedkar Road, which stays pretty busy most of the time. Being near Nashik Road means we get a lot of transit traffic. The building itself is one of those tall ones, but we are tucked away in our own unit. It’s not very spacious. We have rows of shelving that go all the way to the ceiling, filled with different tea varieties. Sometimes it feels a bit claustrophobic when a new shipment comes in and we have nowhere to put it. We have to shuffle things around like a puzzle. The lighting isn't the best, so we use some extra lamps when we are checking the quality of the leaves. We aren't big on corporate meetings or anything like that. We just talk over the crates. Our clothes usually have a fine layer of tea dust on them by three in the afternoon. It’s just a regular work day for us. We don't have a website with professional photos. If you saw our office, you’d see a lot of ledgers and old pens. We still do a lot of things by hand because it’s what we know. The fans hum all day long to keep the air from getting too stuffy. It’s a practical environment for people who actually work with their hands. We just try to stay organized and get things done without any complicated systems.
