We are located over at Panchavati, in the Yamunotri Apartment on VIP Road. It’s a 3B unit, so it feels more like a home than a strict business office. We like it that way because it keeps things relaxed. Being on VIP Road means there is always traffic and something going on outside, but once you step inside, it’s mostly just the smell of tea. We started Taste Tea because we all really liked the stuff and figured we could make a go of selling it ourselves. We don’t have a big storefront with neon lights. It’s mostly just us sitting around a wooden table, tasting different blends and deciding what’s good. Sometimes we disagree on the flavor, and those meetings can go on for hours. We have a lot of jars sitting on the shelves. The kitchen is always a bit of a mess with tea strainers and used leaves. Our neighbors are used to us by now. They sometimes pop in to see what we are brewing. It’s not a high-pressure environment. We take our time with things. If the weather is nice, we leave the balcony door open, even if the road noise is a bit much. It’s just a small group of us trying to do something we enjoy without making a huge fuss about it. We close up early on Saturdays to spend time with our families. It is a simple way to run a business and we like it.
