Om Sai Furnitures is located right on the 60 Feet Road. Being on such a wide road means we get a lot of trucks passing by, and there is plenty of room for loading and unloading. The shop itself is mostly one big room filled with wood pieces, half-finished chairs, and plenty of sawdust. If you walk in, you’ll probably see one of us covered in a bit of dust or holding a hammer. We don’t have a fancy showroom with spotlights. We just line the finished pieces up near the front so people can see them from the street. The floor is concrete and has some stains from wood glue and varnish. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes, especially when we are working on a big order. We have a small desk tucked away where we keep the ledger and the phone. It’s usually buried under a few tape measures or sketches. We don’t spend much on advertising; we just stay open and wait for people to stop by. In the afternoons, the sun hits the front of the shop directly, so we pull down the shades halfway to stay cool. It’s a simple operation. We do the work, talk to the customers who wander in, and try to get the deliveries out on time. There is always something that needs sanding or fixing, so we stay pretty busy from morning till evening.
