Down on Peth Road in Panchavati, you’ll find Jyoti Ceramics & Power Tools. We have a mix of stuff here, from ceramic items to all sorts of power tools. It’s a bit of an odd combination, but it happened naturally over the years. The shop is usually crowded with boxes because we don't have much storage space in the back. You have to watch your step when you walk in. We’ve been part of the Panchavati community for a long time. It’s a busy neighborhood, and we get all sorts of people walking through the door. Some are looking for a specific drill bit, others just want to look at the tiles for their kitchen. We aren't salespeople who follow you around the store. We just stay behind the counter and help when someone asks. The building is old, and the floors are a bit uneven, but it has character. We like it here. It’s not a shiny showroom like you see in the malls. It is just a local shop where we try to keep the shelves stocked with what people need. We don't have a big philosophy or anything. We just open the doors every morning and see what the day brings. Sometimes the cat from next door comes in to sleep on a box of tiles. It’s that kind of place. We take things as they come and don't worry too much about being perfect.
