You can find Gayatri Tea Depot at P S Plaza in Satana. We are right in the Kumbharwada area. Being near the Satana Bus Stand means there is always someone walking by. It is a loud spot. Buses coming and going all day. The dust gets in sometimes. We spend a lot of time cleaning the counters. It’s a family-run depot. We have various kinds of tea in big sacks. Some people want the dust, some want the leaf. We weigh it out right there. The scale is a bit old but it’s accurate. My father started this a long time ago. I took over after I finished school. It’s not a glamorous job. My hands usually smell like dried leaves. We have regular customers who stop in every week. They stay to talk for a bit. We know about their kids and their work. It’s just how things go in Satana. We don't use any fancy computers for the billing. Just a pen and paper. If the power goes out, we still work. It happens often in the summer. We just open the doors wider for light. It gets hot inside P S Plaza. We don't mind. The tea comes in big chests sometimes and we have to pry them open with a crowbar. It makes a loud cracking sound. We also have a small radio that plays old songs in the corner. It helps the time pass when things are slow.
