You’ll find us at 69 Melnagar, which is out in Ammapalayam. It’s a bit further out than some of the other businesses, but we like the space. Andaman Plantations and Development is the name on the paperwork, though most people just call us the plantation office. We spend a lot of time looking at maps and dealing with land issues. The office is an old building, and the walls are covered with different charts and schedules. It’s not a place for someone who likes fancy carpets or modern furniture. We have some old wooden desks that have been here since the start. Ammapalayam is a quiet place for the most part, except when the workers are heading out to the fields. We don't really do much in the way of selling to the public directly, so we don't have a big storefront. Mostly, it’s just us and the land. We keep track of what’s growing and where we need to put more effort. The humidity can be a bit much sometimes, especially during the monsoon, and the roof leaks a tiny bit in the back corner. We put a bucket there and just keep working. It’s practical work, and it takes a lot of patience. We aren't in a hurry to change how we do things because the old ways seem to work well enough for the land.
