Srisailam Chira

Our place is at Hno 2-75 in Theratpalle village, which is part of Chandur. Srisailam Chira is basically a small operation focused on the clothes we make here. In a village like ours, things move a bit slower than in the big cities, and we like it that way. Most of the day is spent working with threads and looms. It’s quiet work, but it takes a lot of concentration to get the patterns right. We don’t have a big store with glass windows. It’s just our house and the space where we work. People from around the village and sometimes from further away come by to see what we’ve finished. Sometimes we have a lot of stock, and other times we’re working on specific orders that take weeks to finish. Handling the fabric and seeing the colors come together is the part of the job we focus on. It’s a traditional thing that’s been around for a long time. We don’t use any big machines; it’s mostly done by hand. The weather can affect how the yarn behaves, so we have to watch out for that. Living and working in Theratpalle means we know everyone around here. It’s a simple life, mostly just focused on the work we produce. We don’t have a website or anything, just the workshop at the house where the work happens every day and people can stop by whenever they want to see what is new.
