Small Wonders The Best Kids Orchestra

Small Wonders The Best Kids Orchestra is based at Swapnapoorti, right on Wardha Road near Ajni Square. This is a place where you can almost always hear the sound of some instrument being played, usually not very perfectly. We have kids coming in and out all the time for rehearsals and practice sessions. It can get pretty noisy, with drums and violins going at the same time, but that is the point of being here. The building is easy to find if you are driving toward Ajni, though the traffic on Wardha Road can be a bit of a headache sometimes. We have a few rooms set up for the different sections of the orchestra. There are music stands everywhere and piles of sheet music that never seem to stay organized. It’s a very lived-in space, not at all like a stiff music school. We want the kids to feel like they can just pick up an instrument and try something new without being scared of making a mistake. The walls have some old posters and photos of past performances, which look a bit faded now. We spend our afternoons tuning instruments and helping the younger ones find the right notes. It is a lot of work to keep it all running, but seeing them play together makes the long hours in this Ajni office worth it for everyone involved.
