If you walk down towards Bharatmata Square in Itwari, you’ll find us near Chaman Saoji. Jagnath Budhwari is a busy part of the city and we are right in the middle of it. Our shop is mostly filled with fabric and thread. There is usually a sewing machine running in the back and someone cutting patterns on the table. It gets a bit cramped when we have a lot of orders coming in at once. We’ve been doing this for a long time and the neighborhood has changed around us. We see people heading to work and coming back while we’re still working on a piece. It’s not an easy job because people are very particular about how their clothes fit. We spend a lot of time measuring and then re-measuring just to be sure. Sometimes we run out of a certain color of thread and someone has to run out and find it. The square is always loud with traffic and people shouting, but inside we just focus on the cloth. We don't have a big sign or anything, just the work we do. Most of our customers are locals who have been coming to us for years. They know where we are and what we do. It’s just a regular day of stitching and fixing things up. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until late evening. This is just how we live.
