National Environmental Engineering Research Institute

We are over here at the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute on Nehru Marg in Nagpur. Specifically, we're in the Gem Division. Our days are mostly spent dealing with environmental stuff like air quality and water testing. It’s a lot of technical work, but we try to keep things simple in the office. The building has been here for a while, so it has that lived-in feel with old desks and stacks of research papers everywhere. Nagpur gets really hot, so we appreciate the shade from the trees on the campus when we walk between buildings. We don't have a big PR team or anything like that. It's just a group of people doing engineering research and looking at data. Sometimes the equipment is a bit temperamental, and we have to wait for parts or results to come in. It’s not a fast-paced corporate environment. We follow the government schedules and do our tests as they come. People around here know us for the work we do on local environmental issues. We aren't selling products; we are just checking how things are going with the land and the water. It’s a lot of routine, but it's important for the city. We keep our coffee machine running and just get through the logs and reports one by one. It’s a practical place for anyone who likes science and doesn't mind a bit of dust on their boots now and then.
