Gupta Drug Agencies is situated in the middle of G. M. Market in Gandhibagh. We occupy shops 72 and 73. If you’ve ever been to Gandhibagh, you know how hectic the market gets with all the handcarts, rickshaws, and people carrying heavy bundles. Our day starts with opening the heavy metal shutters and checking what orders came in overnight. We are mostly a wholesale place, so instead of selling one or two things, we are usually moving large cardboard boxes of medicines and surgical supplies. The space inside is mostly taken up by stacks of crates, leaving just enough room for us to walk between them. We have a small desk where we keep the ledger and the phone. It’s often dusty because of the open market environment, but that’s just how it is here. My family has been running this agency for a long time, and we know most of the other traders in the market. We eat our lunch quickly between customers, usually sitting on one of the stools in the back. There isn't any fancy decor, just shelves from floor to ceiling and a lot of hustle. It’s hard work, especially when the weather is hot and we have to load trucks, but it’s a steady business. We don't try to be anything we aren't; we just supply the boxes that the smaller shops need for their customers.
