About Sri Laxmi Mini Oil Mill – Food & Beverages in Nagarkurnool
Down here in Boothpur, things move at a certain pace. Our place, Sri Laxmi Mini Oil Mill, is located at 4-240/2. It’s a simple setup, really. We’ve got the machinery for pressing the seeds and we spend a lot of time cleaning the equipment. The smell of oil is always strong around the mill, you get used to it after a few days but visitors always notice it right away. Farmers from around the village and the rest of the mandal come by with their crops. We see a lot of people during the harvest season. That’s when it gets really crowded and we have to work late into the night. The noise of the press is constant. It’s a dusty job and your clothes always end up stained, no matter how careful you are. We don’t have a big office or anything like that. I usually just sit on a wooden chair near the entrance and talk to whoever comes in. My family has lived in this area for a long time, so we know most of the people who walk through the door. It’s a small-scale operation, just like the name says, a mini mill. We don’t try to be something we’re not. We just focus on getting the oil out of the seeds and making sure the machines don’t jam up. It’s practical, everyday work that needs doing in a place like Boothpur, and we are just happy to keep the mill running.
