Sabhavat Flour Mill

We are out here in Bhairkhanpalle Village, specifically at house 3-23 in the Keshampet Mandal area of Mahabubnagar. Sabhavat Flour Mill is basically a shed with some heavy machines that grind grain into flour. It is very loud when the motors are running, and you have to shout to be heard over the noise. There is white dust everywhere, on our clothes, in our hair, and even on the ledgers where we keep track of the bags. Farmers bring their harvests in on carts or small trucks, and we spend the day processing it for them. It is physical work, lifting heavy sacks and making sure the stones are set right so the flour comes out fine. The Mahabubnagar heat can be tough, especially when you are working near the engines, but we just keep the water jug full. We don't have a fancy office or a computer system to run things. It is all done by hand and by eye. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to spend half the day covered in grease trying to fix it. It’s a simple life and a simple business. We know everyone in the village, and they know us. We provide a service that people need, and we don't try to make it sound like more than it is. It's just grain and grit and a lot of hard work for everyone involved.
