Brilliant School

We've been here in the Pudukottai Ulur area of Thanjavur for a while now. The school is located right in the middle of our local community. Every morning, the gates open early and you can see the students walking in from the nearby streets. It gets quite warm in this part of Tamil Nadu, so we try to keep the classrooms as airy as possible. There is a lot of noise when the bell rings for lunch. That’s just how it is with kids around. We have a few buildings here on the grounds and a space where everyone gathers for the morning assembly. Some of the teachers have lived in Thanjavur their whole lives, so they know the families well. It’s a plain place, nothing too fancy. We just focus on getting through the lessons every day. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just open the windows wider. The playground isn't massive, but it's enough for the children to run around during their breaks. We see parents waiting outside the main gate at the end of the day, chatting with each other. It’s a very local scene here in Pattukottai. We've got the usual desks and blackboards. Most days are pretty much the same, busy from the morning until the afternoon when the last bus leaves. We just try to keep things running smoothly so the kids can learn what they need to. It’s just a regular school doing its work in our town.
