Alagu Jothi Academy

Mayiladuthurai is a town that moves at its own speed, and Koranad is no different. We are located on 2nd Road, which is a fairly quiet spot compared to the main market areas. The academy is a simple building, nothing that would stand out too much to a stranger passing by. We open the doors early and start sweeping the floors before the students arrive. There is no big marketing team here; we just have a few people who handle the paperwork and the teaching. The rooms have large windows to let the light in, though sometimes the mosquitoes come in too. We have a lot of students who come in from the surrounding villages. They leave their cycles parked in a row out front. It is a bit of a walk from the main bus stand, but people find their way here. We don't use much fancy technology. It is mostly just books, pens, and a lot of talking. The teachers are local people who know the families in the area. At lunchtime, the whole place smells like home-cooked food. It can get a bit loud when the primary classes are out for a break, but usually, it is just the sound of someone reading aloud or a scooter passing on the road outside. We just do our jobs and try to keep the place running smoothly every day, without much drama.
