Svyasa, Yoga Research Foundation has a presence here in Mysore, specifically at Srinivas Nilaya. We are located in the Saligrama area of K R Nagar, which is a bit of a distance from the main Bangalore hub, but it’s where we do our thing. The house belongs to Mr. Basavanth Gudagatthiyavar, and that’s the name most locals recognize if they are giving you directions. The pincode is 571604, and the neighborhood is pretty typical for K R Nagar. It’s mostly residential houses and small local businesses. We don’t have a big corporate sign or a reception desk with a bunch of people. It’s more of a quiet, scholarly atmosphere here. We spend a lot of our time going through records or just managing the daily tasks that come with being part of a research foundation. The area around Saligrama is peaceful, which helps when you’re trying to focus on yoga studies. We see a few regulars who live nearby, and occasionally someone travels from Mysore city to visit us. The building itself is just a regular home that we’ve adapted for our use. It has a very personal feel to it, not like a cold institution. We like that it’s a bit tucked away. It keeps things calm. We’ve been here for a while and the neighbors all know what we do. It’s just a small part of the local community in this part of Karnataka.
