Sapna Beauty Salon

Narayana Shastri Road is one of those places in Mysore that never seems to sleep. We are at number 77, right across from the Mahalakshmi Kollapuradamma Temple. Because of the temple, there are always people walking by with flowers and offerings. You can hear the bells ringing throughout the day. Sapna Beauty Salon is a busy little place. We handle a lot of threading and hair oiling for the local women. The shop has a specific smell, a mix of jasmine hair oil and the various creams we use. It’s not a very big space, so things can get a bit cramped on the weekends. We have a few chairs and some curtains for privacy. The floor is white tile and we try our best to keep it clean, but there’s always a bit of thread or hair somewhere. The traffic on Narayan Shastri Road is constant. You hear the buses and the bikes outside all the time. Sometimes the customers stay and chat for a long time after they are done with their hair. It feels more like a house than a business some days. We don’t have fancy posters or anything. Just the basic stuff you need to get the job done. We’ve been here in this spot for a long time. People find us because of the temple landmark. It’s just a steady, everyday kind of place for the ladies in the area to come and get sorted out before they go home.
