Our shop is number 1631/3 on Dakshineswar Road, over in the E and S Block of Ramkrishna Nagar. It’s a busy corner of the neighborhood. The building is older, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re too busy with the stock to worry about that right now. We have crates stacked in the corner and a small desk where the paperwork gets done. It’s not a fancy clinical environment. It’s a working pharmacy. We spend our mornings checking the temperature for the fridge and making sure the new arrivals are sorted into the right bins. Ramkrishna Nagar has a lot of families, so we see a lot of parents coming in for their kids. The road outside is always full of people walking to the market. Sometimes it’s hard to find parking near us. We don't have a lot of room for customers to sit, so they usually just stand by the counter while we find what they need. We’ve got a small radio that plays in the background to keep things from being too silent. Working here means you get to know the local rhythms. You know when the school lets out and when the offices close because the foot traffic changes. We just keep our heads down and keep the shelves organized as best as we can. It is a lot of work but we have been doing it this way for years now.
