R. K. S. Granite

Our yard is located at No. 14 P in the Thandya Industrial Area, which is out in the Nanjangud District of Mysore. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here, but there’s plenty of space for the granite. The area is quite open and can get very dusty when the wind picks up across the industrial plots. We spend our days out in the yard, mostly surrounded by big blocks of stone and the heavy machines we use to move them. The sun in Mysore can be quite sharp, so we usually have some shade set up where we can take a break. The office is just a small room at the front where we keep the records. It's a simple operation. We don't have any fancy displays. The granite is just out there for anyone to see. The Thandya area is full of other factories, so there’s a constant hum of engines and work going on nearby. Sometimes the rain makes the ground soft and difficult for the trucks, so we have to plan around the weather. We’ve been working out of this spot for a while, and we know most of the drivers who come through. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from early morning until the sun goes down. There’s not much else to it, just the stone and the daily routine of the industrial area.
