Century Cement

Century Cement is over near the Sagardighi Thermal Power Station in the Dhalo area. Our post office is Gankar and the town is Raghunathganj. Having that big power station nearby really defines the area. You can see the structures from quite a distance away. We are mostly involved in supplying cement for various projects around here. The air can get a bit heavy with the heat and the smoke from the industry nearby. It’s a practical place to work, not somewhere you’d go for a vacation. Our building is just a standard warehouse where we keep the stock. We deal with a lot of different people, from truck drivers to small contractors working in Raghunathganj. The work is mostly about loading and unloading. It’s repetitive and your back usually hurts by the end of the day. We don’t have a website or any of that corporate stuff. People just know we are here near the power station. Sometimes the local roads are blocked by the coal trucks, so we have to plan our deliveries around that. Dhalo is a small place, so news travels fast. We just try to keep the cement moving and keep the records straight in our ledgers. It is a plain and simple business. We have been here for some time and we just take each day as it comes, regardless of the weather or the traffic.
