Ambuja Cements Limited

Down in Tilipara village, which is near Jiaganj in the Murshidabad district, life moves a lot slower than in the big cities. Our place, Ambuja Cements Limited, is tucked away, and it’s very much a local affair. You’ll find us easily enough if you ask for Kanailal Khan’s son’s place; everyone around here knows everyone else. It’s a quiet area with lots of greenery, which is a bit of a contrast to the grey cement bags we handle all day. We mostly deal with local folks who are building their own small homes or fixing up their shops in the village. It’s not a massive industrial operation, just a practical spot to keep the supplies ready for the neighborhood. We spend a lot of time sitting on the porch area when there aren't any deliveries, just watching the world go by. The paperwork is all done by hand in big registers, and we keep the pens on a string so they don't go missing. When a truck does come in, the whole place wakes up and we all pitch in to get it sorted. The air smells like the fields nearby, mixed with that dry, earthy smell of the cement. It’s a simple life out here in West Bengal. We don’t have a website or anything like that; people just know we’re here and they come by when they need something for their masonry work and small home repairs.
