Zain Inc.

Our office is over at 15-A in the Chandabhoy Building, which is number 52 on Mangaldas Road. Being in Lohar Chawl means it is always a struggle just to walk down the street because of all the people and the boxes everywhere. Zain Inc. is what we call ourselves, but most people just know us as the guys in the building with the blue door. The stairs up to the office are quite steep and narrow, so it’s a bit of a workout every time we come in or go out for lunch. Inside, it’s a bit dark because the building is old and the windows are small, so we keep the lights on all day long. We have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling, filled with different things we’ve collected or need to ship out. It’s a tight squeeze between the desks, and we’re always bumping into each other when we stand up too fast. There is a small window that lets us see a tiny bit of the sky, but mostly we just see the wall of the next building. The noise from the market downstairs never really stops until late at night, so there’s a constant hum of voices and horns. It’s a humble setup, but we’ve got everything we need to keep the business moving along day after day. Most people find us by word of mouth since the street signs are so hard to read.
