Sakinaka is a busy place. Our shop is in Sanjay Niwas, specifically Room 7 in Chawl 2. It isn't a huge place, just a regular spot near the bus stand. We get a lot of people coming in because of the bus stop right there. My family has been around here for a while. We keep busy with electrical parts and fixing things that people bring in. Sometimes the rains make it hard to get to the chawl because the lanes get narrow and muddy. We have a couple of guys helping out with the heavy lifting and sorting through the wires and switches. It's mostly just work from morning until late evening. The tea stall nearby keeps us going. Most of our neighbors know us by name now. It gets noisy with the traffic from the main road, but that's just how Sakinaka is. We don't have any fancy displays, just shelves full of boxes. If someone needs a specific bulb or a wire, they usually find it here. Sometimes we sit outside on the steps when things are slow. It’s a simple setup we’ve got. We’ve been at this address for a long time and haven’t really thought about moving. Sanjay Niwas is home for the business. We just deal with whatever comes through the door each day. It’s practical work.
