Yash Novelty is over in Malad West, inside Manik Chinthamani House. It’s a bit of an older building on Soma, and we’re in shop number 3. It isn't the biggest place in the world, but we managed to fit everything we need inside our four walls. The street outside can get pretty crowded with people walking to and from the station. We usually have the door open so we can see what's going on outside. The lighting inside is a bit dim sometimes, but we’ve gotten used to it. We spend most of our time organizing the shelves and trying to keep everything in some kind of order. It feels like a local spot where people from the nearby houses just pop in for a minute. We don't have any big corporate plans or anything like that. We just want to keep the shop running and help the folks who come in. Sometimes the ceiling leaks a little when it rains really hard in July, but we just put a bucket down and keep going with our day. The neighbors in the other shops are friendly enough, and we often chat while we’re sweeping the dust from the front step. It’s a quiet kind of business most of the time. We don't do any big sales pitches or fancy talks. If someone wants something, they ask, and we find it for them. That’s just the way it works here. We keep it simple.
