About Vitthal Tulsidas Choksi – Jewellery in Mumbai
If you’ve ever been to Opera House, you know how crowded Prasad Chambers can get. We are up on the 7th floor, at unit 72O. Vitthal Tulsidas Choksi has been a name around here for quite some time. The elevators in this building are always slow, so we end up waiting a lot or just taking the stairs if we’re in a hurry. Our office is pretty traditional. We have wooden desks and a lot of old ledgers, though we use computers now too. It’s the kind of place where you can hear the hum of the city through the glass, but inside it’s mostly quiet conversation. People come in and out all day, mostly regulars who have been doing business with us for years. We don't have any big slogans or anything like that. We just open up in the morning, settle in with some tea, and start looking at the pieces brought in. The lighting is specific for checking the gold and stones, but otherwise, it’s just a normal room. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped when several people show up at once, but we manage. We aren't trying to be the biggest office in Mumbai. We just want to get through the daily tasks and make sure the accounts are right. It’s steady work, and we’re glad to have a spot in such a well-known building where everyone knows our face and our name.
