If you find yourself on M G Road in Kalbadevi, you’ll see how crowded it gets with the handcarts and the people rushing around. Vin Art is at number 75. It is an old building, the kind where the stairs are narrow and you have to be careful where you step. We’ve been at this spot for a long time, watching the shops around us change hands while we stay put. Inside, it’s mostly shelves and the smell of paper and ink. We don’t have much room for a desk, so we usually just work on the main counter. The light from the street doesn't always reach the back, so we keep the overhead tubes on even when it’s bright outside. Kalbadevi is a loud place, you can hear the horns and the shouting all day, but inside here it feels a bit more settled. We keep our stock organized as much as we can, but things tend to get messy when we are busy. It’s a simple setup. No air conditioning, just the windows and the ceiling fans. We drink a lot of tea to keep going through the afternoon slump. There is no big marketing team or anything like that here. It is just us doing what we do every day at 75 M G Road. We open up early, sweep the floor, and wait for the first delivery to arrive from the warehouse.
