Vertex Technosoft Ltd. is up on the 10th floor of the Embassy Centre at Nariman Point. Being in room 1011 gives us a pretty decent view of the area, though we spend most of our time staring at computer screens anyway. Nariman Point is an old-school business hub in Mumbai, and it has a certain feeling to it that you don't get in the newer office parks. The elevators are always a bit slow, so we’ve learned to leave a few minutes early if we have a meeting. Inside, it’s a typical tech setup with rows of desks, tangled cables under the tables, and whiteboards covered in scribbles that only we understand. We work on software and technical stuff, so there’s a lot of quiet clicking of keyboards for most of the day. We aren’t some flashy startup with bean bags and free snacks. We’re more of a "get the code right and meet the deadline" kind of place. Coffee is the main fuel around here, and we usually have a big pot going near the back. People here have been working together for a long time, so we don't need many formal rules. We just know what needs to be done. Even though we’re high up in a fancy building, the vibe inside is very down-to-earth and focused on solving technical problems without any unnecessary drama.
