The Tm Playing Cards Manufacturing Co.

We've been here at A-Z Industrial Estate for quite a while now. It’s number 12, right on G. K. Marg in Lower Parel. Making playing cards is what we do day in and day out. Most people don't think about how much goes into a simple deck of cards, but there's a lot of cutting and printing involved. It gets noisy in the shop with the machines running, but that's just how it is. We aren't a giant fancy corporation, just a team getting the work done. The traffic around Lower Parel can be a real headache sometimes, especially when we’re trying to move boxes out. We just focus on the stacks of paper and making sure the edges are straight. It's practical work. We don't have a big office or anything, just the manufacturing space where the work happens. It’s mostly just ink and cardboard. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend the morning fixing them, which is frustrating but part of the job. If you walk past our spot in the industrial estate, you’ll probably hear the presses humming. We just keep our heads down and finish the orders that come in. It’s a steady rhythm here. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but we’re still here in the same unit doing the same thing. Nothing flashy, just cards. It is a simple way to make a living, and it keeps us busy.
