The Prime

The shop is located inside Oberoi Mall, right on the first floor. If you know Goregaon East, you know how busy the Western Express Highway gets, especially in the evenings. We are in unit F 22. It’s a decent spot because people walking around the mall usually pass by us at least once. Working in a mall is different from a street shop because the lights are always on and you don't really know what the weather is like outside until you leave for the day. Premchand Nagar is a busy area anyway. We spend a lot of time just arranging the items and making sure everything is in the right place on the shelves. It’s mostly just a few of us here. We have our routine of opening up and checking the inventory. Sometimes the mall music gets a bit repetitive but we don't mind it too much. There are plenty of other shops around us, so we know the neighbors pretty well. We grab our lunch from the food court or bring it from home. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful about where we put things. Most of the day is just spent talking to people who wander in while they are out shopping. It isn’t anything fancy, just our workplace where we show up every morning and do our bit. We've been here for a while now and the commute is just part of the life we have chosen in the city.
