Nariman Point is a bit of a weird place because it feels really important but mostly we just worry about how long the elevator takes at Nirmal Building. Being up on the 20th floor means you can see the water if you lean the right way, but mostly we just see the NCPA roof and the crowds walking near the Oberoi Tower. Testdata Technologies is just a handful of us here in this office on Plot 241/242. We usually get in around ten in the morning, unless the local trains or the traffic near Churchgate are acting up. It gets really quiet in the evenings once everyone leaves the business district, but that is actually when we get the most stuff done without the phones ringing. We don’t have any fancy receptionists or a big lobby. It is just some desks, a few old chairs, and too many wires running across the floor. Sometimes the air conditioning makes a rattling noise and we have to open the windows, which lets in the salt air from the coast. It is a bit messy and crowded with papers, but it works for what we need to do. People sometimes ask why we are still way out here instead of a new tech park, but we have been at this address on Barister Rajani Patel Marg for a while and the tea guy downstairs knows us. It is just a practical space where we do our daily work.
