Our office is tucked away on the third floor of Empire House. If you are familiar with Fort in Mumbai, you know how these old buildings are. The stairs at 214-A, K. Nayak Marg have seen a lot of feet over the years. Technocrafts Pvt Ltd has been operating from here for a while now. It’s a bit of a maze inside with the high ceilings and the way the light comes through the windows in the afternoon. We aren't one of those new tech startups with bean bags and free snacks. It’s mostly just desks, computers, and a lot of technical drawings or project papers lying around. The noise from the street downstairs is always there, but you get used to it after a week. We spend most of our time coordinating stuff, talking to vendors, and trying to keep everything on schedule. Sometimes the lift in the building acts up, so we take the stairs, which is good for the legs anyway. Everyone in the office knows each other well. We share the same tea guy and complain about the local train delays together. It’s a tight space, but it works for what we do. We don't try to look more important than we are. We just take the projects as they come, work through the details, and move on to the next one. It’s just a regular Mumbai business life in a historic part of town that we know by heart.
