Sterling Gifts Industries

Sterling Gifts Industries is tucked away on the second floor of the Rustomjee Ezone Mall. It’s at No. 4108, specifically in Malad West. Being in a mall is different because you don't get the street noise, but we have our own kind of bustle. We handle a lot of gift items, mostly in bulk. The space is more of a workshop and storage area than a shiny store. We spend our days packing boxes and checking the quality of the items coming in. There are stacks of bubble wrap and rolls of tape everywhere. It’s a lot of manual work, moving cartons from the freight elevator to our unit. The second floor can be a bit quiet compared to the ground floor shops, but we stay busy with orders. Sometimes the mall air conditioning is too cold, so we wear sweaters even in summer. We aren't really set up for window shoppers; it’s more for people who know what they are looking for. We have shelves filled with all sorts of small gift pieces, from metal to wood. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the stock. We just keep our heads down and get the work done so the shipments go out on time. The Link Road traffic outside is always a mess, but up here, it’s just the sound of packing tape and the hum of the mall vents.
