Steamech Engineers

Our workshop is at 4/112 in the Panalal Compound, which is part of the Bhandup Industrial Estate. It’s a big area off L.B.S. Marg that's always full of trucks. We’ve been Steamech Engineers for years now, working out of this same unit. It’s a typical industrial space with high ceilings and a lot of noise from the neighbors' machines. We do a lot of engineering work, mostly involving steam systems and mechanical parts that need fixing. There’s always welding going on or someone using a grinder which creates a lot of sparks. It’s not the cleanest place, but it’s where things get built and repaired. We have a small office tucked in the corner where we handle the paperwork and drink our tea. Most of the day we are out on the floor getting our hands dirty. The compound gets quite busy with trucks moving in and out, so you have to watch your step when you walk to the gate. We’ve got a small crew of workers who have been doing this for a long time. They don't need much instruction anymore because they know the machines. We don't have any fancy brochures or a sales team to call people. Our work is just about fixing things and making sure the parts fit right. Sometimes we stay late to finish a job if a customer is in a hurry for a repair. It’s just the way things go in Bhandup for people like us.
