One of the best things about being here is that we are right opposite Roshan Bakery. You can usually smell the fresh bread and biscuits throughout the day, which makes everyone in the office hungry before lunch even starts. The chawl is a busy place, very typical for this part of Mumbai. It’s not a quiet corporate park. There are people moving around, the sound of motorcycles, and children playing nearby. Our room is small, but we’ve managed to fit in our computers and everything we need to work on software. It gets pretty warm in the afternoons, so the fans are always on full blast. Being in a chawl means we are right in the middle of the community. It’s a very practical, down-to-earth environment. We don’t have a fancy reception desk or a glass-walled conference room. It is just us in Room 7, typing away and trying to solve technical glitches. Getting here can be a bit of a squeeze through the lanes, but it’s home for the business. We like the grit and the reality of working in Kandivali. It keeps us focused on the actual work instead of just looking important.
